Laptop Issue

Almost after 10 months, I powered my Sony Vaio Laptop, which I only use for scanning as an high-speed scanner is attached to it. Here is what happened:
Microsoft: It is about time you upgrade to Windows 10. Note the free upgrade offer will end by July 29th.
Me: Ok go ahead!
Sony: Hang on. You need to update your firmware first. You are having an old firmware.
Me: Ok. Update the firmware then.
System updates firmware and boots.
Sony: All Sony utilities will not work with the new firmware. You need to update all the utilities. This will automatically update. Please hang on….
About 10 utilities, 8 reboots and 2 hours later…
Microsoft: Your system is ready for Windows 10. Shall we upgrade now…?
Microsoft 7: Security patches and the new Dot net need to be upgraded. Unless this done, you cannot upgrade to Windows 10. You can only do a fresh install.
Me: Ok…I don’t want fresh install. Update Windows 7 patches.
After 3 hours, burning 4 GB so far on the bandwidth, 4 or 5 reboots later…
Microsoft: We will download Windows 10 and when ready we will inform you. You can work while the download is done in the background…
(In fact you can never work. The system is so slow, you might as well wait…)
3 hours later burning 3.5 GB more bandwidth…
Microsoft: your system will be upgraded to Windows 10…Please wait and relax…This will take few minutes…
About and hour and half later,
Microsoft: Your system is now upgraded to Windows 10. Enjoy…
Me: Hello…what happened to my mouse? What is wrong with my keyboard…Hang on..Windows froze. Let me reboot…
System reboots and same thing continues…
Me: What is happening? Why is Windows not working….?
After 3 hours of web search and looking into Sony site, Vaio with two display adapters has problems and cannot be upgraded…!
Me: If the Laptop cannot be upgraded, why did Sony upgrade all the software in preparation for Windows 10. A simple message upfront would have been simple enough! What a waste of time and bandwidth!!!
Me: Please, please get me back to where I started with…I cannot waste any more time on this…
Microsoft Engineers: Don’t worry sir. We have made this totally painless. We know lot of people will have trouble upgrading…So here is what you do…
2 hours later I am back to where I started…(Thank God for that…I cannot go and look for original CDs…)

It just goes to show that paying too much of money for a known brand does not mean you get a better service! My Acer Laptop which is an i5 and one year older than the Sony which is an i7, upgraded to Windows 10 last year. There were few drivers that needed updated. Acer’s software utilities got these ready even before Windows 10 was released. Now that is service!
Sony now joins my hate list of Philips & Apple.
